Thanksgiving.

So I had my first try at a turkey this Thanksgiving. Clark and I decided to stay home and I was soooo excited to make my first thanksgiving meal. After debating all week long (or maybe longer) over which turkey recipe to go with, I finally turned to trusty ole Bon Appetite and made their lemon herb version (with the lemons baked under the skin- not the most fun process). Not bad for my first time! But the sides are always the show stopper for me. Sweet baked yams, garlic mashed potatoes, spinach salad with bacon and pears, oh and of course stinko (Rylander family fave). Our table has never seen so much food!

Boston.

Last week Clark had an interview out in Boston and we decided to make a trip out of it! Boston is my all time favorite city for so many reasons, its so clean, so unique, so walkable, so historic, so charming... I could really go on and on. Needless to say, I was in heaven. We saw the fall colors, had a lot of New England Clam Chowdah, rode the "T," walked around Hahvahd, ate Boston Cream Pie and tried to squeeze in a little of the freedom trail. I would just love to live there! Here are some pictures of our adventures...

The fam at Harvard... it is the most gorgeous campus I have ever seen.

Clark and Beck in front of Harvard Library.

Walking around Cambridge. Do you see those streets? I did not see one stroller that wasn't a bugaboo... it's a must have when the streets are made out of brick.

Beck's hoopty ride. We put the stroller in bassinet mode for most of the trip and he was kept oh so cozy and warm. He took the best naps ever that week! The sounds of the city just lulled him right to sleep.

Clark's sister Suzanne lives in Connecticut so her whole family was nice enough to come up and see us. We spent a whole day with them at the Museum of Science. Thanks Liddles!

It's always a thrill to see your name on a sign.

I am holding a Cannoli from the famous Mike's Pastry Shop in Boston's North End (Little Italy). The store is behind me, but you can't see it that well.

The fam meets Paul Revere.

Can you see why I love it there so much? It is so picturesque, you feel like you are walking around in a storybook or something. Sigh. Perhaps someday I will live there... or perhaps I'll just visit a lot.

Sharks and Mermaids and Pirates, Oh my!

Beckett's first Halloween and boy was he cute! We couldn't get enough of him in this shark costume. Bennett Lark and Sadie Holmes came over to play and all three looked so darling! I've always loved Halloween, but having kids around (to dress up) makes it a million times better.

Fall has come, and then left, and has come again.

I am absolutely in love with all things fall. It has been the perfect weather up here, just crisp enough to put on some boots and a sweater. And then last Saturday a huge snow storm hit! I was so scared that I had experienced the shortest fall ever, but true to Utah weather, it has warmed up a bit again and fall is back in action. Here are some pictures of a few fall activities. A yummy dinner, hee-haw farms, and "witches night out" at Gardner's Village.

My attempt at a fancy dinner. Orange Roughy surrounded by
fall veggies- turnips, parsnips, carrots, and potatoes.

Sinking in corn kernels.

Clark is apparently six feet tall.

Beckett was not nearly as amused by this as we were.

Poor piggies.

Spooky family picture. (My finger was blocking the flash.)

Every year Gardner's Village has a weekend called "Witches Night Out," where 95% of the people who come are decked out, head to toe, witch. These pictures do not nearly do it justice, hundreds and hundreds of women walking around like this. I loved it. And Beckett wasn't scared in the least bit.

The most magical birthday ever.

October 7 was my 25th birthday, so to celebrate we all went out the night before to CPK. I noticed Rachael talking to this really odd looking man, but I just thought it was another weird guy trying to pick up on her or something (not too far fetched if you've seen some of these guys!) Turned out my big brother Richie and my Dad hired a magician to come and entertain us all! I absolutely loved it and couldn't have asked for a better birthday!
Side note- I of course forgot my camera so I stole these pics from other people's blogs (thanks Ashly and Julie!)

Somehow, the card I picked ended up inside the orange Julie is holding. How does he do it?

Me and Mont. And my certificate as an official member of the Mont the Magician Club.

The Boudoir

We meant to post this a long time ago, but I wanted to wait until our lamps came. I've been wanting bedside table lamps for quite some time and there is no way our bedroom would be complete without them. So then they came... and then a month went by... and now we are finally posting our finished project . Headboard made by us (okay mostly Clark) and bedside table painted and reknobed (is that a word?) by us. I just love it! We both swear we sleep better now that it looks like a real bedroom. And yes, Clark loved the idea to use pink- I did not force him. What do you think?

I was pretty exhausted from all the work. Okay maybe from watching all the work.

Before picture of dresser.

Clark's art.

Finished!
